HVV Pahawh Hmong Keyboard is the first Keyman Hmong Pahawh (Unicode) input method. Designed by Hmong Vong Voua, this keyboard uses a custom layout to quickly type Hmong Pahawh. This first version is designed for mobile with upcoming support coming to desktop and tablet.

1. You will need to install the Keyman App to use these files.

Download Keyman for iPhone.
Download Keyman for Android.


2. Download the Keyman keyboard file to be installed into the Keyman App.
For installation instruction, skip to the installation section below.

This layout is based on the English US keyboard and is recommended for users who are familiar with the Pahawh writing system.

Installation


These instructions are for mobile only. Results may vary depending on which version of Keyman is installed.

For now, please follow the text directions:

  1. Download the Keyman App.
    Go to the Keyman app page.
  2. Download the keyboard layout file that you want to install.
    Get the file from the download section.
  3. Open the Keyman App.
  4. At the top right of the app, click on the "3 dotted" button, then click on "Settings."
  5. Check the "Enable Keyman as a system-wide keyboard Settings" box.
  6. The previous step might take you to a new settings page, if not skip to Step 7.
    If yes, then on the new page, enable Keyman as an on-screen keyboard. Tap on "Keyman" to active. An additional pop-up may appear to ask for further permission. Tap "OK" to enable.
  7. Go back to the Keyman app.
  8. Click to go into the settings again (Step 4).
  9. Near the top of the settings, click on "Install Keyboard or Dictionary"
  10. Tap on "Install from local file."
  11. Select the file that you downloaded in step 2
  12. On the bottom of the screen, tap on "INSTALL."
  13. On the next page, tap on "OK" at the bottom right of the screen.
  14. Installation is complete.
  15. Return to the Keyman app's main page and you will see the newly installed keyboard activated.
    If you do not see the keyboard activie, you may need to close and restart the app, or possible restart your device.

For now, please follow the text directions:

    Go to the Keyman app page.
  2. Download the keyboard layout file that you want to install.
    Get the file from the download section.
  3. Open the Keyman App.
  4. At the top right of the app, click on the "3 dotted" button, then click on "Settings."
  5. Check the "System Keyboard Settings" box.
  6. That might take you to a new page, if not skip to Step 7.
    If yes, then on the new page, click "Keyboards". Turn on "Keyman". Turn on "Allow Full Access".
  7. Go back to the Keyman app.
  8. Click to go into the settings again (Step 4).
  9. At the bottom of Settings, click on "Install from file."
  10. Pick the file you downloaded in Step 2.
  11. The install screen should open.
  12. At the top on the right, click on "Install."
  13. On the next page, click on the top right "Done."
  14. Installation is complete.
  15. Return to the main Keyman app screen and you should see the keyboard activated and ready to use.
    If you do not see the keyboard activated, you may need to close and restart the Keyman app or restart your device.
